I guess I will see if tamron 10-24 is available at chandni chowk. If not, then I will buy Sigma 10-20.
Anyways. I am buying sometime in march, so lets see!
Anybody know the pritam guy. If I can get some good discounts :)

Twist in the tale
I was apprehensive about 10-20 zoom range, as 20mm will be too short, so the 10-20 can never be the walkaround lens.
However there is a 17-85 replacement the 15-85.
It gives me 24mm wide instead of 28mm wide with 18-55, and has IS and much better IQ and sharpness etc.,
I called pritam, and he does not have one in stock, but will get soon as 17-85IS is not available. He expects price to be same as 18-135Is(which he has in stock), which is 19000rs, but I am sure this lens will be close to 30K.
Will call next week again to see.
I am leaning more towards the 15-85 as for travel this lens is suited more, and though 10mm wide is awesome, the versatality is not very good.
Maybe a year later I can buy the 8-16 from sigma :)

So now u plan to buy the 15 -85 ......
My personal opionion u stick to 10 mm for that wow factor associated with wide angles ....15 mm isnt just good .

Hmm if the 15-85 is 18000 or so(impossibility as it costs 700$ in the US) then I will get confused, otherwise I will straight away go for the 10-20 from Sigma.

I was planning to go to chandni chowk. but now on phone pritam camera says they do not have the Sigma 10-20!
They have Tamron 11-16 2.8 :D
Funny.
alfa in Palika Bazaar is better, but their price of 26500 for the Sigma is astronomical!
Guess what, probably tomorrow I will go to Chandni chowk.
If sigma 10-20 is available for 23500 or less, I will buy it, otherwise, I will try to get it from some friend coming back from USA.

Coming back to the topic, can you list the names of some other stores I can visit in the chandni chowk area for lenses.
Since I am going there anyways, I may as well visit all the stores.

Crappiest place to go.
None of the shops have any stock of *any* ultra wide lens, and shops like madan jee were totally disinteresed.
Pritam says, I will get you lens in 3-4 to 14-15 days(depending upon your luck) but you got to confirm order!
No ways I am buying like this.
Best bet, either smarshoppers, or try to find somebody who is coming from USA.

I am leaning towards smart shoppers now. I had a live chat, and the person understood canon or nikon mount.
So I guess I will ask them for tokina 11-16 if its in stock. If its there.... Maybe I buy!
But I so wanted a sigma

A bad news. Suddenly the lens is out of stock.
Today morning I had spoken to them and they told me it will be shipped today, however, some time back I get a call that they can ship only on the 25th!
WTF?
A really unprofessional way of doing business. I was thinking maybe India's answer to B&H, but it looks more like a monkey site with no idea what they are upto.

I guess I will wait till 25th, and if order is not shipped. I will put a stop payment on my credit card.

Tanveer .....U cannot stop the payment on credit card once u give them the authorization , THis is exactly same that happend with Vishal above . The difference is he cud realize that this wil happen before he placed the order .......u are realizing it now .......
They didnt have the lens earlier also ......it was just they wanted to hook u on ........
Few Facts :
Didnt these guys know tha they didnt have it in stalk when they talked to u ??
Didnt these guy knew for 3 days that they didnt have it in stalk ??
Didnt they call u as soon as payment reached them and they discovered the stock is run out of this lens .....

Just knowing canon or Nikon mount doenst prove that they are good dealers .......These guys have proved it again .........
Its ur turn now Tanveer .......
