It seems there is nothing going on here so a few thoughts to gather momentum here.

Ive been part of another forum for S3/S5 cameras and they have an excellent format for competitions. Its the best way to learn. SO i dont take the credit for this idea but i think it can be tweaked for this forum

Rules

- Put in a theme (for a start the admin- like night shots, action, sunset, worms eyeview, rain etc etc etc enless possibility)
the one who puts in the theme explains it a bit and contest starts for a week.

- 3 entries per person maybe 2 or 1
- No comments on the thread till contest ends
- The one who gave the theme is the judge...no votes..he decides on the winner..with his critique (that will be better)
- The winner has the perogative of putting up the challenge for the next week..and it carries on that way. If the winner does not do it..then second runner up can.

this will ensure that it runs every week, shooting on a theme can be a tremendous learning experience as you need to aligh your thought to a theme not just random click. creativity can fly.

I think this idea is not a lot different from other competitions except the fact that people do not have to vote.

In my opinion, the big problem with these competitions is to motivate the people to continue to participate.
If the admins can talk to a few sponsors and have some rewards, then the competition might get good participation.

Before starting a competition, the admins must think of the long term plan to motivate people to get enough participation regularly otherwise there would not be any sense in starting just another competition.

It has to be different and effective.

Regards
Gunjan

Why not having a competition of photoshop editing at the same time.... plant a snap and ask people to edit it by their wish . Possibilities are endless... again it can be judged by admins... just a thought...
